Okotoks Preschool Program – Helping Guide Young Minds
In preparation for kindergarten, Crystalridge Learning Centre in Okotoks provides a more structured learning program for our preschool-aged children. In our play-based preschool classroom, children engage in learning activities and develop the ability to cope and persevere until they solve a problem or complete a project.
In the morning, the children participate in a more typical kindergarten learning environment, where they learn their ABCs, colours, shapes, numbers, and practice writing their name. Teachers help them apply their developing literacy and math skills through purposeful, planned learning experiences. The lesson plans allow children to learn from their teachers and from interactions with other children.
In the afternoon, the children are given the opportunity to learn through play via various play stations in their room. To enhance their learning, we include enrichment programs that occur once a week. We strive to ensure that every child is excited to learn and has a positive view of school.
